What should I wear:

Everyone...

  1. Broken-in walking shoes (Closed-toe shoes). If you are buying new shoes for Trek, they should be broken in before Trek. (running shoes, trail running shoes, or athletic shoes are recommended) Avoid mesh tops that allow sand in, causing friction and blisters.
  2. A comfortable pair of shoes to wear around the camp.
  3. 4 pairs of moisture wicking socks. One for each day of Trek. Look for quality hiking socks that will wick away moisture. Avoid all cotton socks (they will absorb moisture, remain wet and cause problems).
  4. 4 pairs of thin-liner socks (optional) are highly recommended to help reduce the friction that can cause blisters. These are to be worn next to your skin beneath your socks. Foot blisters are the #1 problem on Trek.
  5. Clean changes of underwear
  6. One set of pajamas to sleep in
  7. WARM socks to sleep in
  8. Work Gloves (leather, canvas, or inexpensive garden gloves w/ good grip)
  9. Cold-weather jacket (mandatory)
  10. Beanie (mandatory)
  11. Lightweight rain poncho

Young Women...

  1. Two above ankle length dresses with long sleeves or two ankle length skirts (full enough to comfortably walk in them). If wearing skirts, you will need two long sleeved blouses (no t-shirts, logos or sheer fabrics allowed).
  2. Two pantaloons (leggings or scrubs or pajama pants are fine) ankle length to be worn under the skirt to help prevent bug bites and minimize dirt.
  3. Bonnet or wide brimmed straw hat with tie on chin strap for securing to head (no baseball caps)
  4. One or two aprons with recommended pockets
  5. Simple pioneer skirt with apron
  6. Simple pioneer bonnet

Young Men...

  1. Two pair long loose fitting cotton pants (no jeans or shorts of any length are allowed)
  2. Two long sleeved loose fitting button up shirts. Light colors will be cooler (no t-shirts or logos allowed)
  3. Suspenders or belt
  4. One wide brimmed hat with tie on chin strap for securing to head (no baseball caps)
  5. Simple pioneer shirt
